1. Who we are

MakeRain ("MakeRain", "we", "us") provides an AI Receptionist service. MakeRain acts as the data controller for personal data we process about our customers and visitors to our website.

2. Personal data we collect

Account data — name, business name, email address, login credentials.
Customer relationship data — signed agreements, onboarding responses, and information you provide about your business.
Communications — emails, support messages, and call/transcript data processed by the AI receptionist on your behalf.
Usage and device data — log data, IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and telemetry about how the service is used.
Cookies — strictly necessary cookies to operate the service, and optional analytics cookies as described below.

Payment information (card numbers, billing address) is collected directly by our reseller Paddle. We do not store payment card data.

3. Why we use it

To create and manage your account and deliver the service (legal basis: performance of a contract).
To send transactional emails such as receipts, contract status, and onboarding notifications (contract).
To secure the service and prevent fraud and abuse (legitimate interests).
To improve and develop our products (legitimate interests).
To comply with legal and tax obligations (legal obligation).
For optional marketing communications, where you have consented (consent).

4. Who we share data with

Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, and customer support tooling, acting on our instructions.
Merchant of Record (Paddle) — Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for our sales. Paddle handles checkout, payments, subscription management, invoicing, and tax compliance, and processes the personal data necessary for those activities.
Professional advisers — legal, accounting, and similar advisers where reasonably required.
Authorities — where required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside your country of residence, including outside the UK / EEA. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

6. Retention

We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide the service and meet our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We aim to respond within one month.
